A Brief history of a hat by Maddalena Arcelloni
While developing my most recent projects, both editorial and personal ones, I foundmyself to be fascinated by the different forms the human body can take and by the harmony of its shapes. The human body is for me an infinite source of inspiration. Its fluidity and minimalism and yet its rawness and its intricate lines and intersections open up a whole world for me to explore through my images. In pursuing the celebration of the human body’s diversity and uniqueness, I tend to adopt a surreal approach and I enjoy destabilizing the natural point of view from which we are all drawn to observe and think about it, through the use of unusual crops and angles or by introducing external elements to isolate parts of this – to me, still – incredible “machine”.
